Five days of empathy: a training on inclusive education was held at Satbayev University
In January 2024, the Inclusive Education Center held a five-day series of psychological trainings for university teachers on the topic: "Developing empathy in inclusive education." The training was conducted by psychologist Zhanar Yeskaliyeva and teacher – assistant Yerkezhan Baizhigit.
The main purpose of the training was to create conditions for the personal growth of teachers, the ability to empathize, the development and improvement of the ability to understand, recognize and correctly interpret the emotions, feelings and moods of students with special needs. The training included psychological games and exercises aimed at familiarity, a positive attitude, non-verbal methods of transmitting information, a state of inner peace and comfort. The training was held in a positive, trusting atmosphere. The teachers actively participated in all the exercises, were open to communication, and immediately got involved in the work.
At the end of the training, the teachers gave the organizers feedback, noting that "we received emotions of joy", "we got a lot of knowledge for ourselves and for our classes", "we can use some elements of the training for our classes and it will be very useful", "those who did not come lost a lot", "training helped to overcome stress." The participants of the training agreed that it is easier for a teacher to find a common language with students if he builds the learning process taking into account their needs and characteristics.
