Innovative electrochemical protection laboratory has been opened at Satbayev University
Innovative "Electrochemical protection laboratory" devoted to corrosion protection in the oil and gas sector has been opened at Satbayev University on the basis of K. Turyssov Institute of Geology and Oil-Gas Engineering. The opening of the laboratory was attended by University’s Rector Meiram Begentayev and Director of Geology and Oil-Gas Business Institute Askar Syzdykov. In his welcoming speech, Rector stressed the significance of collaboration with production, and urged the students and teachers to open new innovative projects in electrochemical protection.
Laboratory was opened jointly with Institute’s partner, “Renessans Shik” company. The opening ceremony of the laboratory was attended by the company’s director Igor Karpov, master of technical sciences in oil and gas sphere, inventor, patent holder of utility models in electrochemical protection, who presented in detail the innovative equipment provided by the company and the importance of the company's work for the oil and gas sector.
- Electrochemical protection is an area without which the oil and gas industry cannot exist. If preventive protection methods are not applied, then all oil pipelines will serve only 5-7 years. They can exist with us for 40 or 50 years. Therefore, this is the direction that we will continue to develop together with Satbayev University, and the given laboratory will develop along with our growth, Igor Anatolyevich said in his speech.

Laboratory is equipped with the latest technology: the laboratory stands houses not only reference electrodes, protectors and anode earthen devices "Renessans Shik", which has no analogues in the world, but also innovative fire protection that works without the human intervention.
University and the company are planning a broad program of cooperation, including the laboratory work, internship as well as employment programs.
