Military ranks assignment ceremony for graduates of Military Institute in Satbayev University
On 5 October, 2018, Satbayev University held a ceremony to celebrate the assignment of military ranks to the graduates of Satbayev University Military Institute. This year, they graduated from the Institute as Lieutenants of the reserve. The ceremony was attended by Chief of the Rector’s Cabinet Berik Mukhtybaev, Vice-Rector for Academic Work Rinat Iskakov, Deputy Head of the Department for Defence in Almaty Major Rakhimzhanov R. A. and Head of Mobilization Department for Defense in Bostandyk district Senior Lieutenant Asamov A. T.
Rinat Iskakov:
“In accordance with the order issued by Defense Minister, students who have completed the full cycle of education on the Military Department are to receive a rank of a Lieutenant of the reserve. Previously, the military rank was awarded only after the actual graduation from the university and the presentation of the graduation project. This year, according to the new Rules, the rank of reserve officers is assigned immediately after graduation from the military department. The assignment of a military rank is a remarkable event for military men. But I hope there will always be peace and we will never have to take up arms.”
Graduates of the Military Institute passed the exams and their military training – the final stage of preparation, and finally they received Lieutenant shoulder straps from mtheir teachers. The ceremony was attended by parents and veterans; the whole event was accompanied by a Military Orchestra. The guests delivered congratulatory speeches.
Colonel of the reserve Boykov Alexander Vladimirovich:
“For the first time in the years of independence, reserve officers were given primary military rank and given shoulder straps on the territory of the education institution where they underwent military training. Very few of the graduates served in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan and then studied on the Military Department. Most of them never served in the army and received military training in the University Military Department. They had no primary rank: they were nor Privates, nor Gefreiters, nor Sergeants of the reserve. They received their first military rank as officers. This is a glorious occasion, because officers are the elite of our army. Further, they can sign up a contract and join the Armed Forces as serving officers.”
