Republican contest of achievements in the field of invention "Shapagat - 2024"

RSE "National Institute of Intellectual Property" and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan announce the launch of the Republican Contest of achievements in the field of invention "Shapagat - 2024".

The purpose of the competition is to support and stimulate the inventive activities of Kazakhstani scientists and outstanding achievements of domestic enterprises.

The competition is held in the following nominations: "Invention of the Year", "Female inventor", "The most active inventor", "The best innovative company", "Young Inventor" (for young scientists and students aged 18-35 years. The nominations "Invention of the Year", "Female Inventor", "The most active inventor" and "Young Inventor" are attended by domestic inventors of the Republic of Kazakhstan who have valid patents for inventions issued in 2023.

The selection for the nominations "Invention of the Year", "Female Inventor" and "Young Inventor" will be based on the following criteria:

- social significance;

- economic effect;

- environmental safety;

- competitiveness;

- introduction into production and/or commercialization of technologies.

The selection for the "Most active Inventor" nominations will be based on the following criteria:

- social significance;

- economic effect;

- environmental safety;

-the number of patents granted;

- introduction into production and/or commercialization of technologies.

In the "Invention of the Year" and "Most Active Inventor" nominations, applications from both patent holders (legal entities or individuals) are allowed so are the authors.

Within the framework of the Shapagat competition, it is planned to award the honorary title "Honored Inventor of the Republic of Kazakhstan" for the selection of socially and economically significant, competitive, environmentally friendly inventions and awarding the author and (or) rightholder the title "Honored Inventor of the Republic of Kazakhstan".

The application for the award of "Honored Inventor of the Republic of Kazakhstan" is initiated by state bodies, scientific organizations or public associations, enterprises, institutions or organizations that have introduced the invention/s into production.

The members of the Commission award the title of "Honored Inventor of the Republic of Kazakhstan" according to the following criteria

- the total number of patents for inventions received and in force, as well as author's certificates;

- the results of the introduction and application of the most important and widely used, patented inventions in various branches of science, technology and economics. The overall economic effect of the introduction and application, their social significance;

- reviews of enterprises, institutions, organizations, persons engaged in scientific or scientific and technical activities, acts on the introduction of the invention;

-the duration of the activity in the field of invention;

- the number of registrations of the transfer and (or) granting of the right to use the invention(s).

The winners of the competition will be determined by the Competition Commission, which will include representatives of government agencies, scientific organizations, the business sector, innovation development institutes and public organizations. The assessment will be based on a number of criteria, including social significance, economic impact, environmental safety, competitiveness and successful implementation of technologies in production and commercialization.

The winners of the competition will be awarded with diplomas, statuettes and cash certificates from 500 thousand to 1 million tenge.

Applications and petitions for participation in the Shapagat Competition and for the award of the honorary title "Honored Inventor of the Republic of Kazakhstan" are accepted from May 1 to August 31, 2024.
