Satbayev University graduate appointed Akim of Astana

By the order of the Head of State, Sultanov Bakhyt Turlykhanovich is appointed the akim of the city of Astana. Previously he served as Minister of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan. As an Akim of the state’s capital, he succeeded A. Issekeshev.

In 1994, B. T. Sultanov graduated from the Kazakh National Technical University with a major in Electrical Engineering; in 1995, he graduated from Kazakh State Academy of Management with a Degree in Economics. Throughout the years, he held senior positions in the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Statistics, Ministry of Economy and Budget Planning of the Republic of Kazakhstan, including positions as Minister of Finance, Aide to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Deputy Head of the Executive Office of the President.

He is a recipient of the Kurmet and Parasat orders, awarded with 20 years of Astana, 10 years of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and 20 years of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan medals and with breastplate for Excellence of Financial Performance.
