Satbayev University saluted new academicians of RK National Academy of Sciences under the Republic of Kazakhstan’s president

Satbayev University’s representatives took an active part in the solemn event of RK National Academy of Sciences under Republic of Kazakhstan’s President. Vice-Rector for Science and Corporate Development Yerzhan Kuldeyev and other university scientists attended the official introducing the newly elected academicians that took place today in Almaty in “Gylym Ordassy” building. Besides them, the given measure was attended by the leaders of the country's science, the first heads and representatives of 42 universities and 40 research institutes, more than 50 young scientists, as well as mass media representatives.

During the meeting, President of RK National Academy of Sciences under the President of Republic of Kazakhstan, Akhylbek Kurishbayev, in his welcoming speech, highlighted the systemic reform’s significance in science sphere in Kazakhstan and the need to create a new management mechanism where scientists have a substantial voice. He noted that creating the National Academy of Sciences under the Republic of Kazakhstan’s President with the granting of its state status is a key element of this new system.

Minister of RK Science and Higher Education Sayassat Nurbek in his video message recalled the instruction of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, K.K. Tokayev, dated June 1, 2022, to increase the role of National Academy of Sciences, giving it a state status. He emphasized the stages of implementing this assignment, including the establishment of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan and granting the Academy special status as the sole higher scientific organization. Minister also noted the importance of the recently signed "On Science and Technology Policy" law as the main innovation in science sphere over the past few years.

Almaty’s Akim Yerbolat Dossayev sent a congratulatory speech in which he stressed that Almaty is the main center of science and education in the country, and Academy’s goals are closely intertwined with the city’s principal evolvement programs. He congratulated the new academicians on their well-deserved titles and expressed confidence in their further contribution to the domestic science growth.

The newly elected academicians were officially awarded diplomas and badges by Vice Minister of RK Science and Higher Education Darkhan Zhumakanovich Ahmed-Zaki.

The given event marked the outstanding achievements of scientists who have made a significant contribution to advancing the science in Kazakhstan. It emphasized the important role of science in the country growth and marked the beginning of forming the updated composition of National Academy of Sciences under RK President.

As part of the given event, there was held an expanded meeting of Young Scientists Council of RK National Academy of Sciences under President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. At the meeting, Chairman of Young Scientists Council Maksat Zhabagin reported on Council’s six-month work. Alongside, academicians took part in the meeting, which helped to establish the continuity. Young scientists discussed the national science development and made the new proposals.

Satbayev University representatives welcomed the new academicians and wish them successful scientific work with the purpose to strengthen the importance of science and innovation in Kazakhstan. Satbayev University strives to actively participate in shaping the country's scientific policy, collaborate with academic and scientific institutions, as well as contribute to science growth at the national level, supporting the development and initiatives of RK Academy of Sciences under the President of Republic of Kazakhstan.
