Satbayev University students became the winners of "3.2.1. START!" republican environmental competition
The results of 8th season of "3.2.1. Start!" project among Kazakhstan’s universities, dedicated to separate garbage collection, have been summed up. Satbayev University students ranked 1st place, collecting 7.7 tons of kilograms of plastic and won equipment for recycling. Students from all over the university took part in the plastic collection - special urns were installed on campus, into which students lowered the used plastic for recycling. The collected plastic was handed over weekly. There were also 5 full-scale clean-up days with the planting of green spaces, in which more than 3 thousand university students took part.
The project curator, the chief specialist of Infrastructure Management Department Ulpan Turganbayeva believes that just thanks to the perseverance of the students, University was able to get the first place: - We are very grateful to Student Construction Team as well as Youth and Sports Department, who attracted students and took an active part in the action. Thanks to their help, University will receive a waste recycling line from which we plan to make flower vases and curbs.
"3.2.1. START!" project attracts students to clean up the environment, creates models for collecting and recycling the plastic with involving the students to promote green principles and achieve Sustainable Development Goals. The recycled plastic is transformed into new products, the best of which were demonstrated at Plastic in Art exhibition. The best teams and the best mentors received a well-deserved award. Young people together - waste separately!
