Teachers of Satbayev University met with senators of the Republic of Kazakhstan

Today, Kazakh National Research Technical University named after K. I. Satbayev hosted a meeting with the deputies of Senate of RK Parliament Bakytzhan Zhumagulov and Dinar Nuketayeva as well as a group of public activists. The meeting’s main topic is to hold a nationwide referendum, to explain the youth the connotation of an important for the state day. The faculty and staff of the given educational institution together with students attended the measure.

Senator Dinar Nuketayeva, who was the first to take the floor at the meeting, informed the audience in detail related to the upcoming national referendum that is a crucial step for the country.

"In general, the question of what specific changes we will make to Constitution was discussed in advance on behalf of President. As a result, Constitution will be amended in this referendum, which is of great historical importance. For example, 33 of the 99 articles of the current Constitution will make 56 amendments. Therefore, it is necessary to submit it to National referendum, Head of the state announced at 31st session of Kazakhstan people’s assembly”, Senator D. Nuketayeva said.

She also noted that all the changes are the most important ones for Kazakhstan’s future, and separately focused on the most significant changes as well.

"For instance, as President said in his last address to the nation, it is necessary to legalize the transition from the former super-presidential system to an influential parliamentary system. Alongside, the revision of the authority of government branches is needed. The choice of the population by themselves through the election of local mayors. At the same time, until now, Parliament’s all deputies have been elected due to party lists, and now 30% of them are going to be elected owing to majoritarian voting system, that is, by self-nomination. Accordingly, 50% of deputies of regional and city maslikhats will be elected due to the given method. We can underline that all these are the firm steps for the new development of Kazakhstan“, said Dinar Nuketayeva.

Then, Senator Bakytzhan Zhumagulov expressed the opinion that the upcoming historic date should be considered as a prerequisite to create a trustworthy, rule-of-law state.

"Our president clearly said that New Kazakhstan is a fair country". Where there is justice, there will be growth and prosperity. The main thing is - there should be no monopoly. There should be a real competition within political parties. At these meetings, we noticed that the population properly understands and supports these changes. We are also pleased that the importance of the upcoming referendum is well understood and supported by young people. All of them connect their future with this candid Kazakhstan. Today, we once again see it at the meeting with young people at this educational institution”, Senator B. Zhumagulov said.

During the meeting, which lasted more than two hours, young teachers and activists of the city received exhaustive answers to their questions from deputies regarding the upcoming political reforms.
