The degree program aimed at training research specialists in the field of creation, modification and application of modern functional, structural, nanostructured and intelligent materials. The term of study is 3 years, upon graduation, PhD doctor of philosophy degree in materials science is awarded.

Program focuses on evolving the interdisciplinary approach that includes modern areas of materials science, digital modeling, machine learning, sustainable development and environmentally sound technologies. Special attention is paid to the study of the patterns of "composition–structure–properties–technology", as well as the issues of the life cycle and reuse of materials in the context of transition to "green" economy.

Program includes disciplines in physical-chemical analysis methods, nanostructured materials, digital modeling (Comsol Multiphysics, SolidWorks, ANSYS), applied mechanics, and mathematical modeling programs in engineering practice. Practical training takes place in specialized laboratories equipped with modern equipment: X-ray diffractometer (XRD), scanning electron and atomic force microscopy (SEM, AFM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), spectrophotometry, etc.

Doctoral students undergo international scientific internships and work under the guidance of international scientific consultants. Program is implemented in cooperation with universities in Germany, the USA, France, Poland, China and South Korea. This allows doctoral students to participate in joint research projects and share their experience with world-class scientists.

Graduates become researchers, laboratory managers, technical university teachers, and experts in high-tech industries that require the deep comprehension of the nature of materials and the ability to elaborate new engineering solutions.
