A memorial plaque has been unveiled in the house of scientist, Satbayev University graduate Slyamkhan Zhaparkhanuly
On October 5, a memorial plaque was unveiled in the house of Silamkhan Zhaparkhanuly, organized by "Council of veterans of Great Patriotic war, home front workers and wartime children" Public foundation in Almaty.
Slyamkhan Zhaparkhanuly is a well-known scientist, geologist with 60 years of experience. In 1980, he was awarded State Prize of the Kazakh SSR in the field of science and technology for his active scientific research as well as the medals of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the USSR in 1946, 1970, 1976, 1985, 1995, 2000, 2002 and 2006. In 2001, he was granted "Honorary Researcher of the Republic of Kazakhstan" title, and in 2006, State scientific scholarship for scientists who have made a significant contribution to science and technology growth.
The scientist was born on August 25, 1927 in the village of Karash, Zharminsk district, East Kazakhstan region. The first university he graduated from was Semipalatinsk Geological Exploration College, and in 1953 - Kazakh Mining and Metallurgical Institute that has become Satbayev University in more than 50 years.
He began his career in geological parties and expeditions in Central Kazakhstan. After defending his doctoral dissertation in 1986, he occupied the position of the head at Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology department at KazPTI named after V.I. Lenin. Until the end of his life, Slyamkhan Zhaparkhanov worked as a professor at Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology department at Geological Exploration Institute at K. Satpayev Kazakh National Technical University.
He trained 3 doctors and 20 candidates of sciences in the given specialty; a scientific director of Mining Hydrogeology of Kazakhstan; the author of 350 scientific papers, including 20 monographs, 3 scientific methods and 3 scientific papers.
