A seminar on the study of the iCAP atomic emission spectrometer was held in KazNRTU
The KazNRTU named after K.I. Satpaev hosted the first training seminar in Kazakhstan "Atomic Emission Spectrometer with Inductively Coupled Plasma iCAP from Thermo Scientific (USA)" from September 25 to October 3, 2017. An innovator in elemental analysis expert Georgy Boohbinder whose work and standards were widely used by manufacturing companies leaded the training.
The seminar was devoted to modern methods of chemical analysis with the iCAP 6000/7000 spectrometer, the features of sample preparation, the fineness of the analysis, the practical aspects of working on equipment and its maintenance.
The seminar was attended by leading experts and heads of laboratories of industrial enterprises, research institutes and public institutions of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine and Moldova – more than 50 specialists from all countries. Lectures and practical exercises of George Boohbinder helped the students to expand their knowledge in analytical chemistry using methods of atomic spectrometry, to know the novelties of standards in the field of mining and processing of copper and gold.
The students of the workshop performed an analysis of water samples as a practical exercise; they used a hydride attachment to determine mercury, arsenic, selenium in aqueous solutions and analyzed a silver on a spectrometer.
Particular attention was paid to work related to the maintenance of equipment for preventive purposes, so that the equipment would work long and reliably, producing high precision and reproducible results.
The iCAP 6000/7000 spectrometer provides fast, multielement analysis with the highest sensitivity and can be implemented in any laboratory in the mining, metallurgical, petrochemical, agrochemical, food, ecology, medicine and other industries.
