Creating the Central Asian scientific hub: Satbayev University won Horizon Europe Kazakhstan Thematic Coordinator competition
Satbayev University became the national coordinator of European Union Framework program for science and innovation Horizon Europe in Kazakhstan, winning the international competition of thematic coordinators. Associate Professor of Energy and Mechanical Engineering Institute Beken Arymbekov became the national contact person for Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (Horizon Europe).
Horizon Europe is the largest program of European Union for financing the scientific research and innovation for 2021-2027. Program’s total budget is 95.5 billion euros, which makes it one of the largest research and development initiatives in the world. Program is organized according to the principle of thematic clusters that cover key priority areas of scientific research, including the health, energy, climate change, sustainable development, digitalization and security. Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions cluster is aimed at developing the doctoral and postdoctoral programs, as well as financing the innovative projects of young scientists.
Satbayev University acts as a coordinator and consultant for the scientific center of the given program in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. As part of its work, University will advise students, help them find partners and finance their research, as well as coordinate the submission of documents for Horizon Europe program in Kazakhstan. This is just one step towards turning the University into Central Asian innovation hub providing the international support to scientists in Central Asia.
