EARTHQUAKE SECURITY AND PROTECTION ACTIONS
On March 1, KazNRTU carried out a seismotraining "Personnel earthquake preparedness" in light of World Civil Defense Day celebrations and in accordance with the RK Law on Civil Protection as of 11 April, 2014, No.188 for the safety and protection of population against earthquakes, as well for KazNRTU staff training quality improvement in emergency situations.
Faculty and 1-4 year students evacuated university premises and buildings upon alarm signal. Previously, Makarim Tlesbayev, managing director of security and law offense prevention, held explanatory work on training exercises. The escape route was worked out in advance to avoid disorder.
On March 14, 2017 KazNRTU held a seminar for students "Protection of population, property and environment" that highlighted the history of establishment of Kazakhstan Civil Defense system and its development. Students saw a documentary about the largest earthquakes in towns Verny (Almaty), Spitak, Leninakan (Armenia), received notes and instructions on earthquake response actions.
The seminar, together with the University’s youth branch of "Zhas Otan" party, discussed issues of organizing protection measures for KazNRTU employees and students, as well improving the quality of seismotraining exercises and maneuvers.
