Pohang University of Science and Technology: Professor Hyun Joon Cha's research group confirms the biodegradation of polystyrene with the help of black beetle larvae found in Korea

The research team discovered that the larvae of black beetles living in East Asia, including the Korean Peninsula, can consume polystyrene and reduce its mass and molecular weight. The team also confirmed that the isolated intestinal flora can oxidize and change the properties of polystyrene film surface.
