"Integration of SDG into University’s educational process" course was held at Satbayev University
The refresher course took place on September 19 and brought together teachers and departments’ heads around the issues of integrating the work to achieve the sustainable development goals into their daily work. As part of the course, Mikhail Yelkin delivered "Education for sustainable development" lecture and Zhadira Kiyzbayeva delivered a speech on "HCD in Education: Human-oriented design in education".
First of all, the course participants focused on the importance of professional development and dissemination of knowledge about sustainable development goals and ways to achieve them.
- The most important thing is education, - Mikhail said in his speech. - Because if we can't change education, we won't be able to achieve any goals. We will not be able to overcome hunger if we do not know how to overcome it. Therefore, it is very significant.
Sustainable development agenda is a new meaning of advancement in 21st century, as it allows achieving stability and well-being for all mankind. However, it is necessary not only to transform education so that in the process of obtaining it, students receive skills and competencies for a sustainable world. There should also be a transformation of the entire university into "green" organization responsible for energy consumption, water consumption, procurement and culture.
The catalyst for changes at Satbayev University is Center for Sustainable Development of Project Management Institute that has been opened this year. Its activities at University contribute to creating the strong intra-university partnerships and help meet the expectations of students and society.
