Interuniversity Round table dedicated to anti-corruption management was held at Satbayev University
In honor of International Anti-Corruption Day, Satbayev University, together with Department of Anti-Corruption Agency in Almaty, held Round table on "Promotion of compliance by Anti-corruption management service in higher education sphere" topic.
The meeting was attended by Kanat Salimbayev, Head of Prevention Agency of Department, Abdikhali Zhumanov, Head of Anti-corruption Compliance Service at Satbayev University, and heads of the anti-corruption compliance services at Almaty universities.
Round table was dedicated to ISO 37001:2016 "Anti-bribery Management System" international standard, currently one of the most effective anti-corruption tools in the world practice, which allows organizations to gain international recognition and minimize the corruption risks.
Head of Anti-corruption compliance service, Abdikhali Zhumanov, spoke in detail about how the anti-corruption action program was implemented at Satbayev University and discussed the advantages of implementing an anti-corruption management system.
- We will help each other, - said Abdikhali Nurgaliyevich, addressing all those present. - The most important thing is that the given work is not abandoned halfway.
He was supported by Kanat Salimbayev, who stressed that before taking any action against corruption, it is necessary to understand its cause and what makes people act this way and not otherwise. Understanding the reasons will help the anti-corruption manager to do the right thing and effectively fight corruption.
Further, the participants discussed ISO 37001:2016 standard itself, which has already been implemented in practice by Satbayev University and S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University. The parties agreed that this is a very useful standard that helps to comply with mandatory requirements in the given area, implement, maintain, analyze and improve the system of documented requirements in the education system. Today, a university that has implemented ISO 37001 anti-corruption standard will have "Respectable University" status.
Round table’s participants received booklets explaining in detail the standard rules for conducting the internal analysis of anti-corruption risks and implementing the anti-corruption management.
