KazNITU sets the vector of energy development on World Scientific and Engineering Congress WSEC-2017

The first World Scientific and Engineering Congress WSEC-2017 was held in Astana on June 19-20, 2017. There was more than 1,000 delegates from 51 countries gathered. Among them was four Nobel laureates, eight winners of the Global Energy International Prize, well-known Kazakh and foreign scientists, environmentalists, heads of major international companies and energy ministers. An event of such a large scale was presented for the first time not only in Kazakhstan, but also in Central Asia.

The congress center of the international exhibition EXPO has become a platform for discussions on the development of "green" technologies and renewable energy sources. Over 300 reports and 80 scientific presentations, 3 "round" tables and numerous discussions took place on the event. Scientists of the National Technical University took an active part in the work of the Congress, presenting their reports on the main theme: "Energy of the future: innovative scenarios and methods for their implementation," which is directly related to the basic idea of EXPO 2017.
The Congress became a unique opportunity for KazNITU scientists to show their developments on the world stage. Three scientific projects were presented at the Congress exhibition. It was "Charging station for electric vehicles" by Utebaev R., "Small diversion hydroelectric power station with hydro cyclone water supply" by prof. Kasymbekova Zh. K. and "Energy-efficient technological solutions for the design of residential buildings” for the state program of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Affordable Housing" by prof. Kuspangaliyev B.U.

Each of these projects is implemented in practice. The construction of affordable housing, developed with the use of energy-efficient technologies, has become part of the state program "Affordable Housing-2020". The technology developed by KazNITU for the project allows to reduce energy consumption by 30%, heat consumption by 50%, and to increase seismic safety of buildings by 2.5 times.
The project of creation of charging stations for electric vehicles system was launched in 2015. The first charging station was opened on the territory of the Satbayev University. According to the developers, the charging stations will soon appear in the gas stations of Almaty.
