Meiram Begentayev presented the opportunities of Satbayev University to Canadian Ambassador Alan Hamson

On October 27, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to the Republic of Kazakhstan Alan Henson visited Satbayev University and met with University’s top management. During the visit, Mr. Ambassador and Polytech’s Rector Meiram Begentayev discussed the issues of cooperation in the field of education and technology transfer.

University’s representatives spoke about the main areas of work, about institutes and research, shared opportunities in space exploration and ecology field. Much attention was paid to the work in the field of Sustainable Development Goals and minimizing the impact on the environment.

- Usually universities compete, - Meiram Begentayev noted during the conversation. - However, our mission is completely different. We collect and develop best practices, including in the field of sustainable development, in order to transfer them to other universities and distribute them throughout Kazakhstan.

The parties exchanged their vision and proposals on possible cooperation, as well as opportunities for Canadian citizens in education sphere in Kazakhstan. Alan Samson expressed interest in cooperation in mining and hydrogeology sphere.

The meeting was attended by Head of Condor Petroleum Norman Storm and CEO of "Condor-Satbayev" joint venture Mukhtar Kunayev. Mr. Storm spoke about the ongoing work in the field of lithium exploration, which has been underway for a year, contributing to the discussion of joint projects in the field of high-tech industries such as the production of lithium batteries, electric cars, mobile laboratories etc.

During the conversation, Mr. Hampson noted that Canada closely collaborates with Central Asia countries, but Kazakhstan always remains a priority.
