Polytech will improve the system on doctoral students' training

This was stated on January 20 at a meeting dedicated to Doctorate at Satbayev University. University administration highlighted the issue related to the state of Doctorate at the university, answered a number of urgent topical questions as well as outlined the next steps to implement one of the main tasks of the university - the development of technical education in the country.

Our goal was to enter the top 300 universities in the world, but in December the President set us the task of Satbayev University’s entry into the top 200 universities in the world by 2026 based on QS rating. And one of the main KPIs was 10% of PhD doctoral students from the total number of students - said University Rector Meiram Begentayev at the meeting. To fulfill these tasks, Satbayev University has adopted a program to transform the process of training the doctoral students at the university.

The work of Dissertation Councils, academic secretaries, institute directors, Postgraduate Education Department will be established. As part of the work on this task, it was instructed to:

  • coordinate the joint work of Postgraduate Education Department and Institutes in the process of training the doctoral students;
  • start work on the opening of new Dissertation Councils;
  • develop and approve at Satbayev University Academic Council the Regulations on the assignment of PhD doctor;
  • establish feedback with doctoral students;
  • develop an information card for doctoral students, with complete information on training, internships and writing articles.

The work will be supervised by Vice-Rector for Science and International Cooperation Alibek Shokparov.

Doctoral students are our scientists, this is our science, high-quality research and interesting projects. This is our recognition on the world stage. I want our doctoral students to do real science, publish articles in the most highly rated journals, so that we have partnerships with leading international universities and research institutes. And all this is impossible without creating comfortable conditions for doctoral students," said Meiram Begentayev at the meeting.
