Practical issues of sustainable development were discussed at Satbayev University at the conference dedicated to 75th anniversary of Academician Zheksenbek Adilov
Satbayev University hosted "Management of socio-economic systems with the purpose to move to the sustainable development model" conference, dedicated to 75th anniversary of Academician of RK NAS Zheksenbek Adilov. Conference brought together university rectors from different countries, representatives of government agencies, NGOs and commercial companies, students and past employees of Zheksenbek Adilov, who came to congratulate this honored scientist, teacher and organizer of higher education, graduate and Honored Rector of Satbayev University.
Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev, President of National Academy of Sciences Murat Zhurinov, country manager of UN Global Compact Dinara Sedjaparova and Deputy Chairperson of NCE "Atameken" Akerkin Eraliyeva arrived to commemorate his achievements. Moderator of the plenary session on "Management of socio-economic systems with the purpose to move to the sustainable development model" topic was University’s Rector Meiram Begentayev, who read a congratulatory telegram on behalf of Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayassat Nurbek and noted that Zheksenbek Adilov is one of the patriarchs of sustainable development, who stood at the origins of the Bologna process in Kazakhstan and created the country's first research university and largely determined the face and direction of Satbayev University’s growth in the new era.
During his work as Rector of Satbayev University, the country's largest scientific, educational and innovative production complex in engineering and technology sphere, Kazakh National Research Technical University, was established. Within its framework, National scientific laboratory for the collective use of information and space technologies was opened, where the most powerful supercomputer in Kazakhstan was installed.
The engineering laboratory was equipped with the state-of-the-art analytical equipment, Kazakh-Korean Training Center for information and telecommunication technologies and Kazakh-French Center for training specialists in energy and automated control systems, as well as other centers and laboratories were opened. For his contribution to the development of science and higher education, as well as to Satbayev University’s evolvement, within the framework of the conference, Zheksenbek Adilov was awarded the K. Satpayev gold medal from University Council of Rectors.
Conference became a platform for exchanging the best ideas and practices. The speakers talked about real steps to achieve sustainable development goals in various fields of activity: from finance to Almaty’s development. Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Raissa Uskenbayeva noted in her report speech that education is the main condition for sustainable development, which is the principal focus of Satbayev University's work.
The guests discussed methods of sustainable management and resource extraction, including new technologies and best practices in terms of economic efficiency and sustainable development, analysis of strategies to improve energy efficiency and reduce negative environmental impacts in various fields from energy and architecture to project management. The participants’ speeches emphasized the relevance of integrating the science, education and innovation to solve global challenges, which was guided by the long-term work of Zheksenbek Adilov for the benefit of their country.
Within the framework of the conference, there was organized an exhibition of University’s scientific achievements, where the commercialization accomplishments of the results of scientific activity and development work based on orders of enterprises were presented.
