Representatives of Satbayev University took part in II Conclave of SCO countries’ young scientists

In early February, II Conclave of Young Scientists from Shanghai Cooperation Organization member countries was held at Jawaharlal Nehru Center for Advanced Scientific Research (Bangalore, India). As part of Kazakhstan’s delegation, the conclave was attended by Satbayev University’s teachers Elmira Orynbassarova and Dilyara Urmanova.

The forum participants were welcomed by State Minister of India’s Science and Technology Ministry Jitendra Singh, Secretary of Foreign Affairs Ministry of Government of India Sri Damma Ravi, SCO General Secretary Zhang Ming, as well as coordinators from SCO member states:  Kazakhstan, China and Uzbekistan.

Conclave was held in a hybrid format: some delegates participated remotely, others provided video presentations on the conclave topics and took part in the discussion as well.

Forum's platform covered five scientific areas - agriculture and food industry, environmental protection and natural resource management, research and application of artificial intelligence and big data, sustainable energy and energy conservation, biology of diseases and healthcare.

Satbayev University’s scientists took part in the direction dedicated to environmental protection and management of natural resources. One of the projects they presented in the field of remote sensing and GIS technologies for eco-mining was geodynamic monitoring, with the help of which our scientists ensure industrial safety on the mining enterprise’s territory.

Within the framework of the project, specialists of Mining and Metallurgical Institute named after O.A. Baikonurov identified the areas of instability and defined risk assessment criteria. Then, using remote sensing data, they were able to determine the deformation of the earth's surface, changes in the flow of rivers and vegetation, and even identify signs of minerals underground.

The second project, presented owing to Satbayev University’s scientists, is dedicated to basin modeling of the southern part of the Caspian basin. The Caspian sedimentary basin occupies a key place in the economy of Kazakhstan, therefore, the work on the study of subsoil of the given region is ongoing. Satbayev University team collected and systematized the geological and geophysical database of the collected data and developed a digital model of the geological structure of the territory based on it.

The exchange of scientific achievements at Conclave opened new ways for joint international cooperation, and also helped to further closer interaction between young scientists and the emergence of new joint scientific developments.

Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is an international organization whose members are Russia, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Pakistan and India. SCO member states’ territory occupies two-thirds of Eurasia, and their total number is half of the population of our planet. The development of economic scientific and cultural cooperation is among the main goals of the organization.
