Satbayev University and Coca-Cola have launched the joint projects on plastic recycling and "green economy"growth
Satbayev University, “Coalition for "Green Economy" and Development of G-Global and Coca-Cola İçecek Kazakhstan signed a memorandum of cooperation aimed at developing the conscious consumption among the youth of Kazakhstan through plastic waste collection and recycling projects.
The solemn ceremony took place at Satbayev University, the memorandum was signed by Vice-Rector for Science and Corporate Development Yerzhan Kuldeyev, Head of Communications and Sustainable Development and Coca-Cola Içecek Kazakhstan Alina Abileva and chief manager of “Coalition for ‘green economy” and G-Global Development Assyl Okapova.
After the signing ceremony, the participants took part in the master class on plastic recycling and creation of the new product from it. Daniyar Bakimov, one of the winners of “3.2.1. Start!” project, as well as the founder of Rocket Plastic recycling project, together with university students, told and demonstrated on special equipment how to give plastic "a second life". In 2024 alone, Rocket Plastic recycled more than 20 tons of plastic.
"University is proud of this result, especially in the year of University’s 90th anniversary and 125th anniversary of Kanysh Satbayev's birth," Yerzhan Kuldeyev said in his speech. - We are especially proud that Satbayev University has been the first higher educational institution to support the given initiative.
Recall that Satbayev University took first place in the republican competition for the best model of plastic collection and recycling, which took place within the framework of 8th season of the project "3.2.1. Start!". In 2023, students from 10 Kazakhstani universities took part in it, collecting a total of more than 17 tons of plastic waste. Satbayev University team won by recycling 7.7 tons of waste and presenting the best plastic reusing model and the technique that gives plastics a second life.
The memorandum signing implies the expansion of existing cooperation, the partners plan to hold training seminars, forums, press conferences, as well as joint implementation of ideas within the framework of the project to support "3.2.1 Start!" youth initiatives. CCI Kazakhstan, G-Global coalition and Satbayev University are confident that the agreement will help to scale the ideas of conscious consumption even more effectively among young people across the country.
