Satbayev University and Xi'an Railway Vocational Technical Institute has begun the joint work on training the railway employees
“Polytech” is developing collaboration with the best technical universities in China - University delegation visited Xi'an Railway Vocational Institute in Xi'an (Shaanxi province, China) to sign the agreement on cooperation in mechanical engineering, transport and logistics sphere.
The agreement was signed on the eve of the visit of Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to China. The parties agreed on exchanging the students, technology transfer, joint projects in science and technology field as well as launching the training program for railway engineers required within the framework of cooperation between Kazakhstan and China in logistics sphere. When signing the agreement, Rector of Satbayev University Meiram Begentayev noted in his speech that Kazakhstan is a key partner in implementing such a project as cargo transportation "Western China - Western Europe", and mutual training of specialists for similar initiatives is significant to execute two countries’ joint projects.
Program of the visit included Xi'an Railway Vocational Institute tour. Kazakh delegation also visited Xi'an International Trade and Logistics Park, where they got acquainted with the latest achievements in logistics field.
Organizing the transportation by rail is a promising area for which Satbayev University has been training specialists since last year. Under the new agreement, Kazakhstani students will have the opportunity to study in China under the "1+3" program, where the first year will be set aside for learning Chinese, and the next three years for obtaining Bachelor's degree program. China will provide scholarships and support for such students. At the same time, Satbayev University and Xi'an Railway Vocational Technical Institute will credit each other, exchange students and teachers. To make the learning process easy, Chinese language courses will be opened at “Polytech” on the basis of Qinling Institute.
Within the framework of cooperation, it is being expected to create Xi'an Railway Professional Institute’s subsidiary on the basis of Satbayev University, where innovative laboratories will be opened for training the personnel in transport sector of Kazakhstan and Central Asian countries and carrying out the international projects in railway transport and logistics sphere. For the Chinese side, the given collaboration is important as part of "One Zone, One Road" global initiative, uniting the countries through which the historical Silk Road had passed.
