Satbayev University Becomes the First University Certified as buildingSMART Training Provider in Kazakhstan
An official ceremony was held at Satbayev University to present the certificate from buildingSMART Kazakhstan, confirming the university’s inclusion in the register of training providers for the buildingSMART Professional Certification program.
Satbayev University has become the country's first university to integrate this global system into its educational process
This status enables the university to launch a BIM Technology Educational Center at the T. Basenov Institute of Architecture and Construction, where courses will be available to all interested participants.
The initiative marks the launch of a new openBIM educational course designed to prepare participants for qualification online exams on the international buildingSMART platform. Such certification confirms an architect’s competencies in Building Information Modeling and is recognized by the professional community in many countries. Obtaining buildingSMART provider status allows the university not only to train students in modern digital design methods, but also to improve the qualifications of practicing construction industry specialists.
“BIM technologies represent the future of construction design both for Kazakhstan and the entire world,” said Bolat Kusspangaliev, Director of the Institute of Architecture and Construction. “Therefore, launching an official training course with international certification is not only part of the national digitalization agenda, but also an opportunity to bring Kazakhstan’s construction and architecture to a new level.”
The opening of the educational center follows the national digitalization agenda for the construction industry for 2026–2027, which предусматривает development of digital tools and BIM practices at the level of management processes and data requirements. By joining this process, Satbayev University has confirmed its readiness to actively participate in shaping a modern professional environment where the digital model becomes an essential element of project implementation.
Following the formal certificate presentation, a master class titled “Training Specialists for the Digital Transformation of the Construction Industry” was held. Participants discussed practical approaches to adapting educational programs, modern workforce training requirements, and solutions enabling effective work in a digital design environment. All attendees received certificates confirming their participation in the professional educational initiative.
