Satbayev University employees took part in the partnership program between American-Kazakh universities

The delegation of Satbayev University - Aizhan Kassymova and Zhubanov University - Maira Aldiyarova and Anarbek Dauletyarov visited Professor Paul Asunda at Purdue University, USA within the framework of the US-Kazakhstan University Partnership Program to support projects between higher education institutions of the USA and Kazakhstan, funded by the US Embassy in Kazakhstan and US State Department in Washington. The project will last from February 2023 to February 2024.

The “Leading Academic Transformation: Enhancing STEM Instructional methods” project aims to create sustainable international collaboration and partnerships between Purdue University, Zhubanov University and Satbayev University in the areas of curriculum development, research and capacity building in the field of STEM education.

As part of the project, 40 teachers from Satbayev University and Zhubanov University took an online course at Purdue University, and in June the practical part of the course was taught by Professor Paul Asunda, Purdue University.

Professor Paul Asunda, assistant professor of Engineering and Technology Education in the Faculty of Technology Leadership and Innovation at Purdue Polytechnic Institute, holds a joint appointment in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education. He is also a faculty member at the Center for the Advancement of STEM Teaching and Learning (CATALYST).

During the five days of the visit, the delegation from Kazakhstan held a number of meetings with the university leadership and professors, with the aim of establishing further cooperation, international scientific collaboration, scientific internships and student exchange. They attended classes and got acquainted with some teaching methods at the university.

They also continued research work on STEM teaching methods in Kazakhstan, which is the result of the project.
