Satbayev University has celebrated 125th anniversary of Kanysh Satbayev: innovations and traditions on one holiday

Solemn events dedicated to 125^th anniversary of the birth of Kanysh Satbayev, an outstanding geologist, the first president of Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR and one of the key figures in the history of Kazakhstan, were held in Pavlodar region’s Bayanaul district. The given event became a landmark for the Republic, uniting the science, culture and public in honoring the heritage of an individual, whose name was a symbol of Kazakh science.

Satbayev University took an active part in the celebration and presented at the event a unique high-tech yurt powered by environmentally friendly technologies. This yurt, combining the traditions and modern scientific achievements, has become a symbol of sustainable development and environmental thinking, which University is guided by.

Products with MADE IN SU brand were presented to the guests in Satbayev University yurt. Among the exhibits, perfumes created by the first Kazakh perfumer, scientist Gulzhan Tyuzelbayeva, attracted special attention. She presented a series of fragrances dedicated to Bayanaul, including "Toraigyr", "Zhassybai" and "Sabyndykol" compositions. Hypoallergenic liquid soap and a novelty dishwashing detergent developed by a young scientist Yerbol Sagatov were demonstrated as well. The exposition was completed by the unique minerals with Kanysh Satbayev’s image.

University’s Rector Meiram Begentayev led the delegation as well as took part in the ceremony of laying the flowers at Kanysh Satbayev’s monument. In his speech, Rector stressed the importance of preserving and enhancing the scientific heritage of Kanysh Satbayev.

At the same time, from Satbayev University, the event was also attended by Vice-rector for Science Yerzhan Kuldeyev, academician and musician Ulykpan Sydykov and Adilkhan Baybatsha, one of Kazakhstan's leading scientists in the geology sphere. They shared about Satbayev's life’s unique facts that reveal him as not only an outstanding scientist, but also a person with deep affection for his Homeland and people.

Satbayev University students took an active part in the cultural program of the holiday. Singers from University performed songs by the legendary band “Dos Mukassan” that added a special atmosphere to the event and caused the audience’s warm applause.

The events dedicated to 125^th anniversary of Kanysh Satbayev have become a vivid evidence that his legacy lives and evolves in contemporary Kazakhstan. By actively participating in the given celebrations, Satbayev University not only confirms its commitment to the great scientist’s ideals, but also demonstrates its leading role in developing the science and technology in the country.
