Satbayev University has congratulated Carha Hockey World Cup winners

The first days of April became a time of triumph for Kazakhstan hockey: the team of “Salem” hockey Club (Almaty) won the bronze cup in the international championship of amateurs and veterans of Carha Hockey World Cup - 2023 in Canada. No team from the CIS countries has ever managed to achieve victory in this prestigious tournament.

"Salem" is the only team from Kazakhstan that performed this year at this grandiose sporting event that brought together 100 teams from around the globe this year. The hockey players played in the 55+ veterans category, confidently defeating their rivals and losing only to Finnish team. Azat Yermenov, a civil engineer, Satbayev University’s employee, contributed to this victory.

“Salem” team was created by Almaty hockey fans in 2013; the club was named after the children's yard district club Salem, whose colors were defended by many of the current veterans of the club in the distant seventies, taking part in city tournaments for Golden Puck prize. Since then, this amateur club unites hockey veterans from 40 to 68 years old and successfully defends the honor of Kazakhstan in prestigious amateur international tournaments.

One of these tournaments is Carha Hockey World Cup - the world's largest international ice hockey tournament among amateurs. It takes place every four years in one of Canada’s cities and attracts participants from Canada, the USA, Asia and Europe and attracts thousands of hockey fans from 18 to 70 years old. This year the tournament was held in Richmond (Canada).

Congratulations to the winners and we wish them further victories!
