Satbayev University has opened a branch of “Mining surveying and geodesy” department on the basis of “National Spatial Data Foundation” subsidiary

As part of strengthening the academic and professional cooperation, Satbayev University signed a memorandum with National Center for Geodesy and Spatial Information of Geodesy and Cartography Committee at Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the opening of the branch of Surveying and Geodesy Department on the basis of National Spatial Data Foundation subsidiary. Memorandum was signed by University’s Rector, Meiram Begentayev, and Center’s Director General Meder Masselov.

Teaching the students in close connection with production is a distinctive feature of Satbayev University. University develops degree programs together with production’s representatives and organizes a wide program of practical internships for future engineers directly at their future work places.

Cooperation with National Center for Geodesy and Spatial Information will also be based on the principles of long-term cooperation and will be aimed at improving the education quality and development of the geodetic industry in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In addition to opening of Surveying and Geodesy Department’s branch on the basis of National Spatial Data Foundation subsidiary, new programs in the field of geodesy, cartography and spatial data are going to be elaborated within the framework of collaboration. The topics of the students' term papers and diplomas will reflect the needs of Center, and a dual learning system will be introduced as well. Moreover, University is planning to develop and implement innovative solutions for production and evolve the institute of scientific mentoring.

The given event was an important step in strengthening the cooperation between Satbayev University and National Center for Geodesy and Spatial Information, confirming the desire for active collaboration in higher education and research sphere.
