Satbayev University hosted a financial literacy forum: students learned to protect themselves from risks and plan for the future

Financial responsibility, prudent borrowing, personal finance, and protection against fraud were the key topics of the forum “Financial Literacy as a Driver of Public Well-Being,” held on October 24 at Satbayev University. The event brought together students, financial-market experts, and business representatives, underscoring that financial culture is not only a skill but also part of society’s sustainable development.

The forum was organized by the Institute of Project Management at Satbayev University together with the Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with support from Fingramota.kz and partners—Eurasian Bank, KMF-Demeu, and Eurasia Life Insurance.

Nazym Zhunusbekova, Deputy Director for Scientific and International Relations at Satbayev University, emphasized that the event continues the systematic work carried out under a cooperation agreement between the university’s institute and the Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market. Within this framework, the Institute of Project Management regularly hosts joint lectures, seminars, round tables, and forums where ARDFM specialists, as part of the Fingramota.kz project, teach students the principles of financial planning, personal responsibility, and fraud prevention.

“We provide a platform, invite experts, and build a dialogue in which our students don’t just listen—they actively participate. They ask questions, produce their own videos, and share ideas on how to be financially literate and safe in a modern world where digital threats are part of everyday life,” noted Nazym Zhunusbekova.

The forum concluded with an interactive quiz and the video contest “A Loan Isn’t a Like: Think Before You Sign!” Participants presented creative works showing how young people understand financial security and mindful behavior in the digital space. The best videos, selected by Fingramota.kz experts, will be shown nationwide. Contest winners received valuable prizes from partners—a laptop, tablets, and smartwatches.

The forum at Satbayev University marked another step toward achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and advancing ESG principles, helping students manage their finances wisely and ensure economic growth for themselves and their families. By fostering financial literacy and responsible behavior, the university is shaping an economically active, informed, and socially resilient generation capable of making sound decisions in a rapidly changing world.
