Satbayev University is developing an anti-corruption culture at the university

On April 13, Satbayev University held a student debate called "Zhemkorlyk indet - Oni zhuyu mindet". The tournament was attended by 2nd and 3rd year students who have shown an interest in increasing social activity among students and drawing attention to the fight against corruption.
The debate was based on the British system, where students had to convince a jury of their case. This system came to us from the British Parliament, where all players are divided into a government team and an opposition team consisting of speakers, but the decision is made by the Prime Minister. In the case of debates, it is the jury.

The students presented arguments in favour of different methods of fighting corruption that fit the proposed theme: "Corruption is an epidemic and it must be eradicated".

During the game, participants noted that society and business often accept the rules of the game that are accepted in a corrupt society if they are not united in a common front against corruption. It is therefore very important to raise the level of legal culture, legal awareness and integrity in civil society by building a culture of anti-corruption at all levels. Tougher criminal liability, on the other hand, can bring positive results, but is aimed not at identifying the causes of corruption crime, but only at combating its consequences. Therefore, legal education of young people ultimately yields great positive results in the process of counteracting corruption.

The winners of the debate were:

  • Diploma of I degree - Marzhan Niyazbai and Dilyara Yeralkhan;
  • Diploma of II degree - Aruzhan Aitkulova, Akylzhan Ittegulov;
  • Diploma of II degree - Bekzat Moldabaev, Akzhol Beibituly.
  • Best Judge" diploma - 4th year student Asanali Ebdulla.

The tournament was held at a high level. All participants demonstrated erudition and presented their arguments competently. As a result, students came to conclusion that in any environment we should be active in the fight against corruption.

The debate tournament was organised by Anar Sattarova, head of the Sanaly ұrpaқ department and the Anti-Corruption Compliance Service together with the Tekhnokrat intellectual debate club.
