Satbayev University opens Competence Center together with MSC Software Company

The legendary Polytech opens a Competence Center together with MSC Software, a division of Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence. The new center will be engaged in the promotion and popularization of MSC Software computer technologies, as well as training in working with these technologies that allow engineering calculations, modeling and optimizing products or technological processes based on virtual prototypes.

The Center will train young teachers and students of general engineering disciplines in calculations using MSC Software computer technologies, develop methodological manuals, form new areas of scientific activity at the intersection of disciplines, as well as carry out educational and research activities. The University has all the prerequisites to become one of the most important centers of engineering calculations in the country.

"Satbayev University has an excellent team, university teachers are well acquainted with engineering analysis technologies, publish the results of scientific papers based on calculations carried out in MSC Software systems and are ready to transfer the accumulated knowledge to others," said Yuri Martynenko, Sales Director in the CIS of the Russian division of MSC Software.

The Center will be granted licenses for university software systems for modeling technological processes: Simufact Forming, Welding and Additive. In addition, the well–known MSC Software systems - MSC Nastran, Marc, Dytran, Adams and Cradle CFD will be available in the Competence Center.

Such computational computer technologies are necessary for the current high-tech production. MSC Software provides a full range of engineering calculation capabilities in areas such as strength, dynamics, technological processes, hydrodynamics, heat transfer, composite materials, 3D printing. According to the head of the new Competence Center, Madina Isametova, the use of such technologies in production can give significant competitive advantages across the country and the world.

The new Center will be organized on the basis of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Standardization, Certification and Metrology on the basis of the strategic cooperation agreement signed by MSC Software and Satbayev University in April 2022. Designers and technologists of such enterprises as Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan, Electromechanical Plant and others will be able to work and improve their skills in the Center.

MSC Software company was founded in 1963. After some time, the company won a NASA tender for the development of software based on the finite element method. In the 70s, the company continued to develop this system by developing and implementing many technologies that are currently widely used for calculating and predicting stresses, deformations, dynamic processes, acoustics and heat transfer. MSC Software owns such systems as MSC Nastran, MSC Apex, Patran, Adams, Marc, Dytran, CAEfatigue, SimManager, Easy5, Actran, Digimat, Cradle CFD, Vires VTD, FormingSuite, and Simufact, which are used at leading enterprises worldwide for linear and nonlinear finite element analysis, optimization problems, dynamics multi-mass systems and control system modeling. Currently, MSC Software is part of Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence division of Hexagon.

MSC Software Company wishes successful work to the new Competence Center and hopes that cooperation with the university will bring many interesting and useful results both for the university itself and for the industry of the entire Central Asian region.
