Satbayev University students have sent the car of the future to the Shell Eco-marathon in the Middle East

The student team of energy efficient automotive of Satbayev University Racing Team is traveling to Qatar to participate in the first Shell Eco-marathon in the Middle East in Qatar. The renewed team hopes to improve on last year's result and enter the top five teams in Asia.

To achieve this, the team did something that previously seemed impossible – they developed an electric motor, which became the basis for the updated TOQ prototype 4.0 car, which represents the perfect combination of innovation and performance. Thanks to it, the team is planning to travel 500-600 kilometers on 1 kilowatt of energy. The main sponsor of the project was Shell Kazakhstan, and Alibek Ibraim, the team captain and founder, became the project leader:

"We strive to make our elaborations applicable in real life, helping to make the world cleaner and more efficient," he said. – At the same time, the team consists entirely of students, I act as a mentor and supervisor of the team. And I believe that they will cope with the given task! Thank you to everyone who supports us along the way!

He was supported by Raissa Uskenbayeva, Vice-rector for Academic Affairs at Satbayev University, who congratulated the Racing Team on their success and wished them good luck in the competition.

The project to develop a new car, carried out with the support of Tesla Kazakhstan, has become an important step towards a sustainable future and energy-efficient technologies. The team uses recycled plastic and the 3D printer for its developments, opening up new opportunities to reduce plastic waste and work on alternative energy sources. Creating the battery required a non-standard approach, in-depth analysis of materials and many tests. The team will test and refine its engine right up to the start, hoping for a result.

The upcoming Shell Eco-marathon Asia-Pacific and the Middle East 2025 will be held in the Middle East for the first time – at Lusail International Circuit in Doha, Qatar. It is a global academic program that challenges student teams around the world to design and build energy efficient vehicles capable of covering the maximum distance with minimal fuel consumption. Program aim is to expand the boundaries of technical capabilities and inspire young people to become leading scientists and engineers in the field of energy solutions of the future.

Satbayev University Racing Team hopes that TOQ car will show excellent results at these important competitions and will be a considerable step towards the introduction of sustainable technologies in the automotive industry. Let’s wish good luck!
