Student Organization Fair
On September 10, in the garden near the University’s main campus, the opening of the Satbayev University Student Organization Fair took place. As always, the main goals of the event were to promote activities among freshmen students and ant to recruit new members.
There were thirteen student Organizations: The Volunteer League, Vocalists club, SAE, SPE, Satbayev Hunterz, IDC, SportLab, SYP, ZhasKanat, KVN, Parasat, Baisheshek and KDM, all of which actively presented and promoted their activities in many exciting ways, such as photo-hunting, games, competitions and relay-races; the representatives of the organizations delivered speeches and presented certificates. The Fair will take two days in a row and tomorrow, 11 September, students will enjoy even more exciting activities from the amazing program, which the representatives of all organizations have carefully thought out together.
The Organization members share their impressions:
Kamilla:
– I am a member of Stabayev Hunterz. What we do is we recruit new members and implement student projects. We bring to life the ideas and dreams of our members. We take part in many projects of the city level, as we did with Pixel where we assisted the organization. Our activities bring us both benefits and pleasure.
Akerke:
I am a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers department in our University. This is an international organization sponsored by Shevron. Our field is research and creative activities; we participate in an international congress, where every student can present his projects and talents. There one can win amazing prizes, like Shevron laptop. We learn a lot at lectures from businessmen and representatives of the oil and gas industry. We give opportunities to communicate, study, win practice at Shevron or go abroad to present your project. Society of Petroleum Engineers gives its members a wide range of opportunities. Besides, one can improve communication skills and comprehensively develop. And the most important benefit from participating in student organizations is the opportunity to do what you enjoy.
Kirill:
Last year I started my own organization modeled after the American ones. It was called The Brotherhood. I held two events and realized, that people in Kazakhstan are not quite ready for this concept. Then I joined two university organizations, one of them being a debate club. It was amazing! I want freshmen students to realize the importance of being in a student organization. And it doesn’t matter whether they join my organization or some other. The important thing is that they begin to gain organizing and teamwork skills, which will be useful in the future.
Student years are full of colorful events and emotions. This is a special time, with its thrill of the action and discovering the new, a wonderful period of new acquaintances, a time when you gain knowledge and improve your skills. Perhaps, this is the only time when one has the opportunity to express oneself and do things one really likes. This is what student organizations are made for.
