SU hosted the “EuroChem” case championship
On December 6, Satbayev University hosted the preliminaries of the “Mining League” of the 5th season of the “EuroChem” case Championship. The purpose of the Championship is to increase the level of professional training of students of the target set of the “EuroChem” MCC”, and also to identify and employ promising students from specialized universities.
4 teams took part in the championship. Participants received tasks a week before the championship, solved a case and prepared a presentation of their solution. The students' solutions were assessed by an expert commission, which included Deputy Director General for Production of “EuroChem-Fertilizer” Bolat Karimov, Director of the O. Baikonurova Mining and Metallurgical Institute Zinesh Abisheva, and also the faculty of Satbayev University.
On the championship there were presented cases, compiled on the basis of real production situations and developed on the materials of “EuroChem”. For each presentation, there were allotted only 7 minutes, the jury gaged all participants individually. The highest scores were conferred to innovative and realistic solutions from an economic point of view.
The Pitman team won in the championship. It received the Winners Diploma. The team was assembled by Daulet Magavianov, who participated in the “EuroChem” championship last year. The experience he gained helped him win the championship and show himself well in front of his employer.
The next step for Pitman is to participate in the final of the championship in Moscow, which will be held in February 2019. The winners of the final will receive valuable prizes and gifts, practice at “EuroChem” enterprises, participation in the Meeting of young specialists of the company, which annually takes place in Sochi. The winning team of the “Mining League" will also automatically become a finalist at the International Engineering Championship "CASE-IN" in 2019.
The championship on the solution of engineering cases “EuroChem” has been held since 2014 with the support of the “Reliable Change” fund and the “EuroChem” company. The fund's activities are aimed at system search and training talents for work in the energy and sector of industry. The championship is held in four industry leagues: "Mining", "Logistics", "Mineral fertilizers", "Sales". The preliminaries of the Championship are held in 19 technical universities of Russia and Kazakhstan. More than 270 students from 11 specialized universities of Russia and Kazakhstan became participants of the championship in 2017.
