Technology scouts: “Samgau” Center for Science and Technology Initiatives and Satbayev University have joined forces
Satbayev University management met with representatives of “Samgau” Center for Scientific and Technological Initiatives. Tolegen Orashev, Center’s General Director, and Saltanat Zhumabekova, Center’s Corporate Affairs Director, visited University to discuss prospects for cooperation in developing the innovative solutions for interested industries.
"Samgau" Center for Scientific and Technological Initiatives is a foundation created to increase the competitiveness of the domestic science- intensive industry through the introduction of innovative developments and research initiatives into production. Center is working to create practical mechanisms for interaction between the scientific and innovative community and industry, acting as "a scout" – “a reconnaissance", actively involving the republic’s universities in "the game in the top league" - solving the urgent production tasks. The inclusion of Satbayev University in the given process as an equal partner, and not only as a project executor, is quite logical.
- What makes us different from all other universities, - said Satbayev University’s Rector Meiram Begentayev, at the meeting, - the state has entrusted us with the responsibility to carry out technology transfer, be a support center for regional universities and form a scientific and technological hub for the entire region.
Center has already identified production problematic issues of enterprises and formed 22 tasks on them, the solution of which is planned to be found first. Satbayev University and Center will form a joint scientific group to provide scientific and technical expertise with the purpose to effectively integrate innovative solutions into production. Scientific groups’ attention will be mainly focused on solving the problems of energy and railway transport in their practical implementation.
It is being planned to create a student design bureau aimed at solving the tasks proposed by “Samgau” Center; support for the initiative from production workers who will be able to become supervisors of Master's and Doctoral dissertations in the role of production professors.
