The bridge between Kazakhstan and Hong Kong: CityU advises startups Satbayev University

CityU delegation (City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong) discussed with Satbayev University’s teachers and scientists the details of future cooperation. CityU is one of the best and fastest growing universities in the world, occupies 62nd position in the QS ranking. Collaboration between CityU and Satbayev University provides an opportunity for Kazakhstani students to practice at leading technology companies around the world that are part of the partner network of City University of Hong Kong.

"The opening of the CityU branch at Satbayev University will be an indicator of a significant breakthrough in the Kazakh education system and the effectiveness of ongoing reforms," said Samgat Yermekbayev, First Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and Strategic Development. Hong Kong University delegation, headed by Vice President for Talent and International Strategy Li Wen, included Professor Michael Tse, Deputy Vice President for Innovation and Director of CityU Innovation Academy, Professor Jennifer Fen Lin, Assistant Vice President for Global strategies, and Senior Business Manager Colby Leung.

At the meeting with students and teachers, Professor Li Weng noted that at the present time, for success in education and business, it is necessary to maintain a constant search and exchange of information. - That's why we are here, and we hope that thanks to our cooperation, you will become competitive on the world stage. We know that you are very smart, talented, hardworking, and we hope to see you in Hong Kong," said Professor Lee Wen. During the visit, a training on the development of startups launched with the support of Satbayev University was conducted by one of the most famous scientists and inventors in the IT field, whose advice is listened to by technology entrepreneurs around the world, from Silicon Valley to technology clusters in Europe and Asia. Professor Michael Tse gave his recommendations and advice, as well as shared CityU's unique experience, which allowed the university to evolve an effective development model adapted to the modern labor market requirements in a short time and achieve commercial success by developing science and innovation.

Based on the previously signed agreement, two-degree educational programs in Material Science, Artificial intelligence and Civil engineering will be formed according to the "2+2" format for bachelor's degree and "1+1" for master's degree. This gives Satbayev University students the opportunity to obtain a CityU diploma, which opens up great prospects for its holder due to the prestige and quality of education.
