The Department of Architecture hosted a lecture by Damir Usenov on artificial intelligence in architecture
The Department of Architecture hosted an inspiring lecture by renowned Kazakhstani architect Damir Usenov. Founder and director of Lenz Architects, a laureate of prestigious international competitions, and the author of unique projects both in Kazakhstan and abroad, Damir shared valuable insights and experiences with students and faculty members.
The lecture, titled “AI in Architecture: Past and Future,” explored how artificial intelligence is transforming architectural design, with a focus on tools like Midjourney and Veras. These technologies already assist architects in finding unconventional solutions, speeding up design processes, and unlocking new horizons of creativity.
Damir emphasized his personal experience with AI, demonstrating how these technologies can complement, rather than replace, human creativity. Real-life examples from his practice captivated the audience, offering a deeper understanding of how AI can be integrated into professional workflows.
The lecture concluded with a lively discussion. Students and faculty actively asked questions about the future of the profession and the opportunities and challenges tied to implementing innovations in architecture. Many participants noted that the event was a great chance to rethink familiar concepts and explore new approaches to design.
We extend our gratitude to Damir Usenov for his engaging and informative lecture, as well as for the inspiration he brought to our academic community. We look forward to continued collaboration and future events.
