The future begins here - the role of artificial intelligence in sustainable development was discussed at Satbayev University

"Artificial Intelligence for a sustainable and inclusive future" panel discussion was held at Satbayev University, organized in cooperation with the Office of UN Coordinator in Kazakhstan. The event was a continuation of “UN Future Summit”, held six months ago at the UN headquarters in New York and brought together students, teachers and experts to discuss how to use artificial intelligence taking into account the interests of future generations.
The discussion was opened by Stephen O'Malley, Acting UN Coordinator in Kazakhstan, who stressed that the discussion was a continuation of the global conversation about the future of artificial intelligence:
"One of the most important outcomes of the Future Summit was the global digital compact, the first universal agreement on artificial intelligence management," he said. "It says that technology must benefit humanity, and all of us - governments, industry, academia, and civil society - must work together to elaborate the framework necessary for responsible innovation."
The speakers who spoke at the discussion highlighted various aspects of the functioning of artificial intelligence in modern society, and Aray Kassenkhan, associate professor of Software Engineering Department at Satbayev University, shared with the guests the university's initiatives in education sphere.
Satbayev University has developed an integrated ecosystem for implementing the artificial intelligence in education and science. University conducts active scientific work in agriculture, ecology, finance, education and the development of the Kazakh language, conducts workshops on the use of AI in education and studies the ethical use of technology. Teachers receive special training to use AI tools and make classes more effective. One of the most important achievements was the launching of "AI for All" university course within the framework of the national AI-Sana program.
Thus, Satbayev University not only integrates artificial intelligence into educational and scientific practice, but also forms a responsible culture of its use, making technologies accessible, ethical and focused on the benefit of science and society as a whole.
