The laboratory where our dad worked: Auditorium named after Nariman Kozhasbayev was opened at Satbayev University

On November 7, the grand opening of the museum-laboratory named after Academician of National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nariman Kozhasbayev took place. The ceremony was opened by University’s Rector Meiram Begentayev.

Honored Worker of Kazakhstan, “Aksakaldar Alkassy” Council’s Chairman, Professor Ulykpan Sydykov, Director of Automation and Information Technologies Institute Raissa Uskenbayeva and daughter of Academician Nazira Narimanovna Kozhasbayeva were present and held a speech at the laboratory-museum opening.

In her speech, Nazira Narimanovna noted:

“University has done a lot to transform the laboratory where our dad worked,” she said. “He devoted more than fifty years to studying the science at Polytechnic Institute, and this is the last auditorium where he worked, and where his spirit, his potential and his desire to transmit everything he had known to the next generations of students.”

Nariman Kozhasbayevich Kozhasbayev, a well-known Kazakh scientist, the first Doctor of technical sciences in the field of electrical engineering of the Republic of Kazakhstan, professor, academician of National Engineering Academy made a huge contribution to modern Kazakhstan’s engineering. The history of developing the computer science in Kazakhstan is associated with his name. He was at the origin of training of specialists engaged in production automation at Satbayev University, he devoted a lot of effort to scientific work in electrical engineering sphere. Professor Kozhasbayev became the author of more than 200 scientific papers, textbooks and manuals, inventions, methodological elaborations, and he took part in many scientific projects as well. Under his leadership, Automation and Computer Engineering Faculty was opened at Satbayev University in 1962 that became a powerful center of changes in the republic.

For the excellent work he was awarded with "Veteran of labor", "Airyksha enbegi ushin", "Kurmetti baylanysshy" medals, silver medal of International Academy of Electrical Engineering Science, and he became the owner of "Honorary worker of education of the Republic of Kazakhstan" title.

Polytech staff will always keep the memory of him and pass it on to the new generations of students.
