The opening of Silver University took place at Satbayev University

On October 11, the official opening of Third Age University took place at Polytech.

"Silver University" is an open educational environment for older citizens. Third Age University is an international movement that helps older people get a second profession relevant to the modern market, organize an active and interesting life as well as strengthen their physical and mental health.

Silver University project unites the most extraordinary and intelligent people of the older generation and creates conditions for them to develop themselves and transfer their experience. In Kazakhstan, the given program works within the framework of implementing the concept of lifelong learning and work under State Program for Development of Education and Science in 2020-2025.

Now Kazakhstanis over 58 years old can take part in the project. From 2023, the requirements for participation will be reduced and Silver University project will be extended to people aged 50 and over. The project is aimed at finding employment for older unemployed people. Thanks to it, women can get jobs as individual assistants, mentors for young professionals, social workers, social work consultants as well.

At Satbayev University, the project's work will be aimed at unlocking the opportunities and self-realization of elderly citizens in modern society. As a first step, the programs "Fundamentals of Life Safety", "Improving the level of financial literacy" and IT Faculty will be launched.

In the future, on the basis of Silver University, it is also planned to open "Volunteers of Silver age" faculty, designed to form the necessary competencies and practical skills for elderly citizens to carry out the volunteer service related to the elderly in various areas.

Thus, large-scale work will be realized to improve older citizens’ life quality.
