The results of the english language week at Satbayev University
This year, the traditional English language week at Satbayev University was held in the last days of April. During the week, creative contests and projects were spent that contribute to the disclosure of creative potential of students and the entire teaching staff of the university.
The opening ceremony in the style of a rock festival was held with the support of Enactus Satbayev University student organization. The students greeted the guests accompanied by the university's live band, sang songs together, guessed soundtracks from famous films, and danced to TikTok modern trends together with Satbayev University team.
After the opening ceremony, ”Red Nose Day“charity fair was launched under ”Do something funny for money" motto, within the given measure there was a fundraiser and a sale of pastries prepared due to English Department’s staff. All proceeds were sent for treating the 5-year-old Batyrkhan Zhanakhmet, suffering from cerebral palsy.
Moreover, every day the students demonstrated various projects within Reading Project as well as Poster Project; the purpose of which was to advance students' creative abilities. Students showed their creative abilities in making colorful projects by hand, based on the selected works by such authors as Jack London, Francis Scott Fitzgerald, Ray Bradbury, William Shakespeare, Charlotte Bronte, and Lewis Carroll. Each group told about the writer's work and their chosen work’s plot. All the participants were awarded certificates.
Every evening in the university assembly hall there were theatrical performances in English, organized as part of the contest. Students demonstrated their acting skills and knowledge of the English language, using classical masterpieces of English literature, musical shows, adventure and fairy-tale works in the stage setting.
One of the most significant projects of the English language week was “I'm the next Satbayev" video contest. The contest gave each participant an opportunity to share their ambitious plans, reveal the talent of public speaking and acting, persuasion, as well as a creative approach to making a video. More than thirty students presented their videos to the jury. Freshmen ranked the first places –

The largest project of the online English language week was "Working life at SU” video challenge among the university’s entire staff in which more than 15 departments spoke on their working days in English.
The partners of the week were Satbayev University, InterPress International House, “The Ear and the Bear” karaoke club as well as Department of English that provided various valuable prizes and gifts for the winners. Department of English at General Education Institute has thanked all the students and university teachers who took part in the given event.
