The stars should be accessible to everyone: Satbayev University and international experts have discussed the future projects in inclusive education

Barriers between students with special needs and their educational goals should be removed - Satbayev University experts agreed with the guests from Institute of International Education and Amideast international educational organizations during the meeting dedicated to discussing the joint projects in the inclusive education sphere.

The discussion was attended by Vice-Rector for Science and Corporate Development Yerzhan Kuldeyev, head of Center for Inclusive Education Dilyara Urmanova and head of Steppe Global Education Foundation and Regional director of International Education Institute in Kazakhstan, representatives of the non-profit organization Amideast, as well as employees of University departments and chairs. The parties discussed their vision of future joint projects, the creation of programs to support students with special needs and the introduction of international experience in evolving the inclusive educational strategies.

To implement the given plans, Satbayev University is considering the implementation of joint projects with the non-profit organization Amideast, which has been supporting the international education, vocational training and development programs in the Middle East and North Africa since 1951. Amideast’s principal mission is to strengthen mutual understanding between the United States and the countries of the region through educational and cultural programs.

On the other hand, increasing the inclusiveness of education has been one of the main goals of Satbayev University for many years. University conducts many projects aimed at meeting the needs of people with special needs. The project involves the construction of the plant for producing the prostheses, which will be developed and maintained in accordance with the personality of the person who will wear the prosthesis.

With the purpose to provide students and teachers with all available educational opportunities, University has updated its infrastructure and information facilities. Thus, University's website includes a module for the visually impaired, and the campus is equipped with tactile signs and ramps that provide an accessible environment for students with disabilities.

University has a long history - most of its buildings were built in the 50s of XXth century according to outdated standards, and reconstruction of these buildings to create a barrier-free environment is difficult and expensive. However, Satbayev University is investing in infrastructure reconstruction, where it is possible, and plans to build additional buildings designed in accordance with the standards of a barrier-free environment. This includes the creation of a platform for learning and creativity for all residents of Almaty, including round-the-clock access to infrastructure. Based on University experts, everyone should have access to higher education and have the opportunity to realize their dreams and achieve the stars.
