The university hosted a republican scientific and practical conference “Personality, language and society: linguistic and sociolinguistic research”
The Department of Kazakh and Russian languages of the Institute of Project Management named after Turkebayev E., together with the Institute of Linguistics named after Baitursynuly A., held a republican scientific and practical conference “Personality, language and society: linguistic and sociolinguistic research”, dedicated to the Satbayev’s 125th birth anniversary.
The event, held in an expanded online and famous scientists, public figures, representatives of the scientific community, teachers of higher educational institutions, representatives of the language development department, and the media, attended offline format.
The purpose of the conference is to highlight the facets of Satbayev’s linguistic personality, to analyze the quality of the Kazakh language use in the contemporary social life spheres, the main changes in its social meaning and function, management and regulation in the language development.
In the first part of the conference, the linguistic personality of the scientist was examined from the point of view of national consciousness and worldview, and Satbayev’s contribution to the human sciences of Kazakhstan was noted.
The reports drew attention to the current language processes in society, bilingualism, urbanization of the Kazakh language, exchange and mixing of languages. The speakers posed pressing sociolinguistic questions and made a number of relevant proposals.
