Together we can do more: Satbayev University hosted a conference dedicated to the necessities of people with special needs
Satbayev University hosted "Conference on education and 3rd mission of universities, sustainability and development", dedicated to International Day of people with disabilities, organized by Inclusive Education Center at Satbayev University in cooperation with AlmaU University. Conference was headed by Board’s Chairman - Rector Begentayev Meiram.
Conference brought together experts from business, academic and government organizations to find solutions to the problems of people with disabilities in education. Vice-rector for Science of AlmaU Bakytzhan Sarkeyev, head of Inclusive Education Center at Satbayev University Dilyara Urmanova, President of "Center for Social Inclusive Programs" public foundation Lashyn Turegeldiyeva, director of Art Center of Association of Disabled Children’s Parents APDC Rinat Mukhametshin, AlmaU experts Aurora Diaz-Soloaga, Alberto Frigerio and other specialists presented their reports. Insight School presented its photographic works for the exhibition.
Participants shared their approaches, author's methods and discoveries in inclusive education field, talked about how they solve the problems of obtaining the higher education for people with disabilities.
Conference was held in the warm, working atmosphere. Many speakers noted that in addition to technical aspects and infrastructure for the education of people with special needs, it is crucial to create a supportive atmosphere that will help special students study. "Humanity is the ability of each person to take part in the fate of other people," Vice-rector for Academic Affairs Bakhyt Zhautikov said at the conference.
Another topic discussed at the conference was the support of cancer patients, to whom several reports were devoted to palliative care. Another medical topic was the neuro-rehabilitation of patients with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease.
Conference provoked a great response. As a result of communication and exchange of opinions, the working understanding has emerged between Satbayev University Center for Inclusive Education and InDrive, where university students are working to make efforts related to assistance for people with special needs. The parties intend to continue negotiations on cooperation.
