Training of KazNRTU geologists in the London Museum of Natural History
In the first half of August 2017 Alma Bebotaeva, Adilkhan Baibatsha and other teachers of the department "Geological survey, prospecting and exploration of mineral deposits" visited the Natural History Museum, London.
The Museum of Natural History consists of two parts - laboratory and exhibition. The research section is closed from the public. The teachers of KazNRTU had been for a week in the trip where worked on textbooks on geological disciplines. The reviewers of the new books were Professor Alla Dolgopolova and Professor Reimar Seltman, ore deposits research head of the Museum of the History of Natural Science.
The KazNRTU teachers worked on their books and their translation into English individually. Professor Reimar noted the high level of books and gave his recommendations on the structure and design of books.
The Natural History Museum is one of the three largest museums in Britain, which has the world's most famous collection of dinosaur skeletons and a mechanical tyrannosaur model. In addition to 80 million exhibits, the museum stores books, scientific works, manuscripts and rare art collections, which can be accessed for research purposes. The KazNRTU teachers visited the mineralogical and paleontological sectors and the research laboratory of the Museum of Natural History.
As a result of the internship, teachers received certificates, reviews and recommendations for improving textbooks. Now KazNRTU is waiting for the visit of Reimar Seltman and Alla Dolgopolova, the terms and the plan of this visit were approved. It will include master classes and consultations on the newest method of teaching geological disciplines in English.
