Transition to a Hybrid format of Teaching Foreign Languages for the purposes of Sustainable Development
On May 10, 2024, a senior lecturer of the Department of Foreign Languages Aizhan Kalkaeva, together with Deputy Director of the Institute of Digital Technologies and Professional Development Guldana Akanova, conducted an introductory master class on creating video courses for learning foreign languages on the platform Polytechonline. The teaching staff of the department were presented with the goals, advantages and forms of organizing English language teaching in a hybrid format (1 online lesson + 2 offline lessons weekly).
During the discussion with the Department staff, it was noted that the transition to a hybrid format of teaching foreign languages makes it possible to increase the efficiency of their acquisition, simultaneously using advanced digital technologies and communicative teaching methods through live communication with the teacher.
This initiative is consistent with the objectives of Sustainable Development Goal No.4 “Quality Education”, as it helps to increase the accessibility of quality higher education.
