Within the framework of the research workshop, Satbayev University and Sungkyunkwan University discussed strategies for creating the sustainable future

Today, Satbayev University hosted a research workshop dedicated to elaborating the new strategies for sustainable development in the field of environment and energy. The workshop was attended by leading scientists and researchers from Satbayev University and Sungkyunkwan University, one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in South Korea. The purpose of the workshop was to strengthen scientific and academic cooperation between the two universities and to find joint solutions to global challenges.

The meeting was opened by Satbayev University’s Rector Meiram Begentayev, he greeted the guests and participants. In the opening speech, he noted that the cooperation will be an important step towards creating a new future. President of Sungkyunkwan University, Professor Ji-Bom Yu, in turn thanked for the warm welcome and spoke in detail about the student exchange that his university conducts with universities around the world. The meeting was also attended by Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at Satbayev University Raissa Uskembayeva and First Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and Strategic Development Samgat Yermekbayev.

The two universities signed a memorandum of cooperation and student exchange, which became the first step in the academic mobility program between universities that plan to start "3+1+1,5 " study programs and a double degree. The two research teams plan to develop cooperation in the field of student exchange, implementation of joint research projects and their commercialization.

Two scientific teams started to implement the given task immediately, organizing a workshop in which representatives of Satbayev University and Sungkyunkwan University presented their research projects. Topics included comprehensive environmental research, synthesis of materials for the sorption of radionuclides and innovative approaches to water purification, as well as the creation of biopolymers for medical use.

In the second part of the workshop, attention was paid to interdisciplinary projects related to bioelectronics, architecture and sustainable use of resources. The participants discussed the processes of circulation of low-carbon resources, creation of closed recycling cycles and development of smart devices such as piezoelectric bracelets that can accurately detect movements.

Sungkyunkwan University is the leading and oldest university in South Korea, ranking 123 according to QS World University Rankings and one of the best universities in Asia. The workshop resulted in the discussion of further steps to evolve cooperation, including the launch of new student exchange programs and executing the joint research projects. The given meeting was an important step towards creating the sustainable future through scientific partnership and knowledge sharing.
