“Nomad”, drones and artificial intelligence: there was held Open Day at Satbayev University Military Affairs Institute
Satbayev University Military Affairs Institute introduced students and pupils of military-technical and general education schools of Almaty to modern achievements of military science, opening the doors for them as part of celebrating the Republic of Kazakhstan Day. Satbayev University’s Rector Meiram Begentayev took part in the celebration. The event combined a demonstration of the institute's educational and research work, demonstrations of military equipment and interactive educational platforms that allowed guests to visually see how modern technologies are integrated into military training.
Program highlight was an experimental prototype of the autonomous border vehicle "Koshpendi" (translated from Kazakh as "Nomad"), created by Satbayev University scientists as part of the joint scientific project with NSC Border Academy and Kazakh representatives of “Kamaz.” Project was led by Nurbol Kamzanov from Satbayev University and Maxim Buryan from Border Academy.
The vehicle is designed for autonomous border protection service with a crew of up to 9 people with up to two weeks of autonomy, is equipped with a thermal imager, anti-drone protection, communications equipment, a solar energy system and separate compartments for the crew and detainees. Developers noted that with mass production, such a machine can significantly reduce the cost of protecting the remote areas compared to stationary outposts construction.
"The transition to the new format - format of mobile movable points, can significantly increase the effectiveness of state border protection," said Nurbol Kamzanov, presenting the given Kazakhstani elaboration.
Another unusual exhibit was the virtual reality program "Artificial Intelligence", adapted to practice the skills of storming buildings, team interaction and intelligence management in the secure digital environment before entering the training ground and real exercises.
"A real assault requires high financial costs and poses a danger to life," said Reserve colonel Kanat Dairov, a senior lecturer at Military Affairs Institute. - However, practicing skills with VR glasses is simple and accessible to everyone. Today, an innovative, modern and more accessible method of teaching is available. The guys get all the necessary skills, and coordinating the department is much faster and better.
Satbayev University students are continuously making improvements to their training - the guests were able to get acquainted with four student projects that were developed based on the computer simulator of modern combat "Geo-tactics" and are dedicated to the use of artificial intelligence in military training and topography.
In addition to innovative achievements, the program included performances by the crews of T-72A and IFV-2 tanks, the work of calculations of guns and mortars, demonstrations of wheeled vehicles "Arlan" and "Hammer", an exhibition of samples of equipment, weapons and communications equipment from Defense Ministry, as well as the traditional demonstration of the work of the cynological service of RK NSC Border Academy, which demonstrated work on detecting explosives and drugs. The event ended with a friendly treat of soldiers' porridge, a symbol of military brotherhood and generational continuity.
Satbayev University Military Affairs Institute continues the traditions of military education, combining the modern technologies, engineering education and patriotic education of young people. Organizers not only showed new developments to students and schoolchildren, but also invited them to take part in projects, inspiring the younger generation to serve the Motherland.
