COUNTRY’S FIRST ELECTRIC BUSES BUILT

A production prototype of electric buses has recently been presented in Almaty. Domestic manufacturers are planning to increase the output volumes.

The E-bus is fully recharged in 8 minutes and travel about 70 kilometers, accessories being delivered from China. But in the near future it is planned to establish their local production and at the moment the plant has already carried out the testing of two buses and is planning to produce up to 1000 cars a year.

Generally buses produce a lot of exhaust gas as for e-buses they, in addition to many other positive aspects, like minimum noise, can save citizens from dangerous acrid smog. The first Kazakhstan e-buses are very quiet, eco-friendly, and what is most important, they are economy buses. There are no usual roaring engine sounds, no vibrations in the cabin.

Erlan Stambekov, JSC "Parasat" Supervisory Council Chairman says, “There is no oil, no filters, just electric motors servicing, as a rule, their lifetime mileage is more than 1 mln.km. The   battery life is 10 years.  A driving distance of the titanium - lithium battery-70 km.  A battery charging time doesn’t exceed 8 minutes. KazNRTU mechanic graduates are engaged in developing and manufacturing software for those e-buses.

Amirbek Abiev, KazNRTU student says, “We are going to monitor a driver’s speed. If there are some speed violations or speed limit, the bus will stop smoothly.  Also it is possible to provide   a remote monitoring and control of vehicle technical condition via internet which includes a full stop of the bus from a dispatch room. In the future, domestic e-buses are expected to be equipped with domestic batteries that are expected to half the price of the machine. Meanwhile, the Kazakhstan e-bus sells for 100 million tenge.
