Future of universities in the era of artificial intelligence was discussed in Almaty

Satbayev University hosted "Universities in the Era of Artificial Intelligence" forum, organized jointly with inVision U International University and InDrive Company. The event was attended by members of International Academic Council of inVision U, industry representatives and the invited experts.

The keynote address "AI and the Death of Current University Model" was delivered by Ewan Simpson (Narxoz University) and Andrew Wachtel (inVision U). They noted that the mass model of higher education, based on inertia and a focus on the knowledge economy, is facing the challenge of artificial intelligence. According to them, universities will either have to continue their previous practices or transform into flexible centers for developing the human and creative skills, which AI cannot replace.

Particular attention was paid to the issue of how the role of the university is changing: from training specialists to creating an environment for socialization, project work and learning how to use AI as a tool. The panelists emphasized that the future of higher education depends on the ability of universities to teach students how to work productively with new technologies.

Welcoming the forum participants, Arsen Tomsky, founder of InDrive, noted that the key task of future universities is to train leaders: "It is very difficult to train geniuses, you need to look for them. It's much more realistic to educate leaders and push them to make people's lives better. In this process, artificial intelligence can become an important tool and influence booster."

Forum opened a long-term cooperation between inVision U and Satbayev University in the field of education quality development and innovation.
